Why do I ever NOT use brushes?

I need to revisit this topic.
I got so bogged down in colors and lighting, that I didn't really get to make much progress.

PLUS i totally forgot about brushes. Here's today's attempt.

...Brushes make this WAY too easy. I need to learn how to make them even better!

My lighting needs work too. as does my framing, and drawing...and....

Adam and Dog

I found a still from the short Adam and Dog, and it made me want to paint.
My friend Josh keeps telling me that to get better, I gotta copy people, so I figured why not?

These dealios are just little thumbnails, but hey!  it's better than nothing.
I think my sky is too blue. I needed to white it out.

Animate

So I recently cracked open a big can of worms. I want to learn toon boom.
I've just had the itch to be animating something...anything! And since I have a program to do it, why not give it a shot.

So here's my...maiden run. It's nothing big, I was really just trying to get something moving.

I can hear my professors almost in unison "That is NOT the same character in each frame."
I know.
